"Terrible painter, avoid at all costs! They blatantly used cheaper paint than what was specified and quoted. The crew initially spoke perfect English until they were caught using the wrong paint, then suddenly, no one could understand or communicate with us. The work was shoddy with poorly cut-in walls, walls not properly prepared, and floors and skirting left uncovered, resulting in paint drops everywhere. Items were painted around on walls, and the ceiling only received one coat. The supplied photos are after around 5 return visit to site to try rectify issues with further issues found and created after each visit Overall, a complete disaster and a waste of money!"

FAQs For Exterior Painting

Siding and hood trim made of wood should be repainted every five years. If there isn’t any noticeable or substantial cracking on the surface, stucco may be painted less often. Every three years, stained siding or shingles should be installed to maintain the wood’s seal and stop greying. It’s time to paint any surface that exhibits widespread failure, which is defined as peeling or cracking in the paint layer, or if the substrate made of wood or stucco is exhibiting signs of cracking.

To paint a home, we break the procedure down into three stages:

Phase 1: Scrape, Sand, and Wash: We remove any loose and failing paint in this phase. To capture all the loose paint chips, we do this before cleaning the home. To feather out the edges and blend them into the home’s base, we carefully sand the areas left exposed after the paint was removed. We wash the home as the last stage to give the surface a new start and to get rid of any underlying dirt and grime.

Phase 2: Prime and Seal: In this stage of the procedure, we first coat the house with a layer of protection. We apply a primer layer to all surfaces that are going to be painted after masking off windows, fixtures, and other components that need to be kept safe. After priming, we started the process of caulking, sealing, and mending. In order to provide these materials a stable, clean surface to attach on, we often apply them after the primer. Our major objective is to create a beautiful, rejuvenated surface that may be painted in addition to sealing any places in the house where water may enter.

Phase 3: Finish Coat: Naturally, this is the most enjoyable part! It’s our turn to colour the house. Depending on the colour scheme and surfaces to be painted, we use a range of techniques. Our primary technique for applying paint is airless spraying. When we need to do finer work and when masking takes longer than brushing and rolling, we utilise brush and roll. A spray application leaves a surface that is uniformly smooth and applies paint at a volume that is comparable to two separate brush and roll applications.

There are three primary sheen options for the outside surface: Semigloss, Low Lustre, and Flat.

The ideal shine level is determined by the surface. A flat gloss is ideal for stucco. If wood siding is in excellent condition and has few cosmetic flaws, it may look fantastic in a Low Lustre. Semigloss shine should almost always be applied to trim pieces. Semigloss offers the greatest protection for the life of the product. It can withstand being the sun and rain and resist dirt and grime.

Plants need to be moved away and covered before exterior painting starts.

It is a crucial phase that, depending on the surface, if skipped, might compromise the calibre of the work. Washing leaves a clean surface for the primer by removing mildew and imbedded dirt.

Consider the following characteristics when selecting paint colours:

  • kind of roof
  • the hardscape, such as patios, decks, paving and trellises.
  • Nearby residences or buildings
  • Surrounding landscapes
  • The home’s architectural characteristics

If you cannot decide, our service includes a one-hour consultation with a qualified colour consultant.

The size of your home will determine how long you need to paint it. It generally takes three to four days to finish painting an average-size house with a two-men team. An “average” home is one to two stories and has four or fewer bedrooms. If your house is three stories or has five or more bedrooms, it will take around five to six days to complete exterior painting with the mentioned number of professionals.

Unless there is extensive cracking, we recommend painting wood exteriors every five years, recoating stained parts every three years, and painting stucco elements every ten years.

The extent of the work, the surface conditions, the intended colour scheme, and the quantity of materials required will all affect the final cost. The easiest method to find out how much something will cost is to arrange a meeting during which we will fully grasp your objectives and the necessary resources for the project’s completion.
